Abstract
Stunting is a serious public health issue with long-term adverse effects on a child's physical growth and cognitive development. A crucial upstream factor in the successful prevention of stunting is a mother's understanding of nutritional care practices during the toddler years. This study aimed to assess the level of maternal knowledge regarding toddler nutrition in the context of preventing stunting in Culik Village, Karangasem Regency. This was a quantitative descriptive study utilizing a cross-sectional design. It was conducted in Culik Village, Karangasem, involving a sample of 112 mothers with toddlers, selected via purposive sampling. Primary data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire and analyzed using univariate analysis to determine frequency distributions. The results showed that the majority of respondents (60 individuals or 53.6%) possessed a "sufficient" level of knowledge regarding toddler nutrition. Overall, maternal knowledge concerning toddler nutrition for stunting prevention in Culik Village was classified as sufficient. This is likely attributable to regular exposure to information from local health volunteers, although a deeper understanding of specific nutritional requirements to prevent stunting still needs to be optimized.
